This competition entry involved the provision of a children's centre on the site of the existing Aoibhneas Women & Childrens Refuge. Our idea was to incorporate additional programme into the existing centre while creating internal & external spaces of varying scales to assist mothers and their children to rebuild their relationships.

The new centre's design concept, in this way, developed as a reaction to the geometries of the Aoibhneas Centre as well as using its system of corridors to anchor the new into the existing. The additional buildings are strategically placed on the site to link into the existing circulation while working together with site boundaries and the reconfigured layout to create new age appropriate play areas and service spaces.
